420 in a Basket

171 Chapin x Just Breathe Binghamton x Make-A-Bong
April 19, 2025 ·  Collier Street Shutdown

“420 in a Basket” was one of the most ambitious and fully realized events 171 Chapin has put on. Organized in collaboration with Just Breathe Binghamton and Make-A-Bong, the event shut down Collier Street and transformed the block into a living pop-up—blending DIY culture, student creativity, and a full lineup of vendors and performers.

I was commissioned to design not just a poster, but a flexible event identity that could scale across platforms and assets. I created three distinct poster variants and developed a visual system that could be easily shared and reused by the gallery, performers, and collaborators. That visual language extended into on-site signage, sticker packs, and even a brand-new 171 Chapin screenprint I used to print shirts live during the event.

The lineup featured Husband Material (an SAPB Battle of the Bands winner), over six student vendors, multiple food trucks, and of course—Tai from Make-A-Bong doing live bottle drills and turning found glass into custom bongs on the spot.
