Humans of Binghamton, New York

Interactive Archive & Book Installation, 2023–2025

Originally exhibited at the Bundy Museum of History and Art, Humans of Binghamton, New York, is a portrait book that captures the voices and faces of residents through a series of typographic spreads and editorial-style layouts. The design draws heavily from the museum’s physical space—frames, mirrors, and antique artifacts found throughout the room informed the visual language of the book. Even elements from an original 1894 issue of Godey’s Magazine, archived within the museum, subtly shaped the aesthetic approach.

The physical version was hand-assembled using a wide range of materials: steel rods, copper wire, sheet metal, and an acetate base to protect the surfaces it rested on. And yes, one repurposed Harry Potter book. The installation was site-specific and made to feel at home within the Bundy House, tying history to present-day lives.

Since the closing of the exhibit, I transformed the entire experience into a digital archive, coded from scratch to preserve the spirit of the project and make it accessible beyond the walls of the museum (and timeframe of the exhibit).
